Descendants of Jean Aubin - 2

This tree shows the ancestry of Charles Duret Aubin, Attorney-General of Jersey during the German Occupation and Alexander Coutanche's deputy.
The tree has been revised in 2021, with alterations to Generations 1 and 2. The queried marriages in the latter generation seem sound, on godparent evidence, but need confirmation from the Jersey Land Registry
Aubin family page and links to other trees
In common with the majority of our trees, this descendancy has been subject to regular review by site editors and checked against Jersey church records. Trees including French ancestry have also been checked as far as possible against French primary records. It is not always possible to carry out such checks on sections of trees with United Kingdom and/or colonial content
If you want to search for records for any name in this family tree, or for any other family name, just click below on the first letter of the family name you are interested in. This will open a new tab in your browser giving you a list of family names beginning with that letter, for which there are baptism records in our database of half a million church and public registry records.
You can also select marriages or burials. Select the name you want and when the list of records is displayed you can easily refine the search, choosing a single parish, given name(s) and/or start and end dates.
The records are displayed 30 to a page, but by selecting the Wiki Table option at the top left of the page you can open a full, scrollable list. This list will either be displayed in a new tab or a pop-up window. You may have to edit the settings of your browser to allow pop-up windows for www.jerripediabmd.net. For the small number of family names for which a search generates more than 1,500 records you will have to refine your search (perhaps using start or end dates) to reduce the number of records found.

- ↑ Philippe Aubin and Rachel Le Seelleur, his wife, were godparents of Philippe Aubin in 1804, son of Jean Aubin of St Helier, and Esther Romeril, his wife, described as uncle and aunt of the child. They were also godparents of Philippe Pallot, in 1802, son of Jean Pallot and Esther Aubin of St Martin, although the relationship was not given

- ↑ Jean Pallot and Esther Aubin, his wife, of St Martin, were godparents of Esther Aubin, in 1799, daughter of Jean Aubin of St Helier, and Esther Romeril, his wife, although the kinship was not given. They reciprocated by asking the St Helier couple to be godparents of their daughter, Esther Pallot, in 1807. Jean Pallot, son of the above and his wife, Esther Aubin, baptised in 1797, had as godparents Jean Poingdestre and Jeanne Aubin, his wife

The 1851 St Helier Census, when he was living in Vauxhall, gives his place of birth as St Martin, the parish from which most of his children`s Aubin godparents came

His sister Esther was described on burial as having died on 10 February 1843, aged 74 years and 3 months, giving a date of birth by 10 November 1768. She was baptised on the 30 November 1768
- ↑ Rachel Vautier`s date of birth (1799) can be calculated from the very consistent entries she supplied to the enumerators of the 1851-1871 censuses. Her place of birth was given as St Ouen, where her baptism was entered in the register on 17 November 1799. Her parents married there in March 1798. Her mother, Rachel, nee de la Perrelle, re-married in 1803 as the veuve Jean Vautier so his burial was that recorded in the register in 1799. Her mother's second husband was Jean Le Cerf, fils Philippe, fils Philippe. She was fille Philippe, fils George. Children born of this second marriage, who were Rachel Vautier`s half-sisters, were Betsy Le Cerf (1805), Marguerite Le Cerf (1807) and Suky Le Cerf (1809). Betsy (as Elizabeth Le Cerf) was godmother of Frederick Aubin, the future écrivain, and Suky (as Susanne Le Cerf) was Philippe Aubin`s godmother, in 1833, both sons of Rachel Vautier and her husband. Rachel Vautier`s father, Jean, was recorded on marriage as being of Les Marais
