In common with the majority of our trees, this descendancy has been subject to regular review by site editors and checked against Jersey church records. Trees including French ancestry have also been checked as far as possible against French primary records. It is not always possible to carry out such checks on sections of trees with United Kingdom and/or colonial content

Record Search

If you want to search for records for any name in this family tree, or for any other family name, just click below on the first letter of the family name you are interested in. This will open a new tab in your browser giving you a list of family names beginning with that letter, for which there are baptism records in our database of half a million church and public registry records.

You can also select marriages or burials. Select the name you want and when the list of records is displayed you can easily refine the search, choosing a single parish, given name(s) and/or start and end dates.

The records are displayed 30 to a page, but by selecting the Wiki Table option at the top left of the page you can open a full, scrollable list. This list will either be displayed in a new tab or a pop-up window. You may have to edit the settings of your browser to allow pop-up windows for www.jerripediabmd.net. For the small number of family names for which a search generates more than 1,500 records you will have to refine your search (perhaps using start or end dates) to reduce the number of records found.

Notes and References

  1. His Will, Jersey Archive D/Y/A/3, dated 17 June and proved in July 1681 mentions, apart from the poor of St Ouen and his burial there, his son André, his daughter Magdeleine and a grandson Jean. His belle-fille, or daughter-in-law, Marie Le Richardson was to receive a cow. Philippe Dauverne and Pierre Le Brocq were executors
  2. Jean was baptised with his first cousin, André, son of André. Jean was described as Jean, son of Jean Le Montais, son of Jean, which places in this tree his father, whose baptism was unrecorded. The above will also indicates this conclusion. Jean Le Montais, of Grantez, and Catherine Le Cornu, his wife, were in 1709 godparents of Philippe Le Brocq ,of Les Vaux, grandson of Magdeleine Le Montais
  3. Godparents: Nicolas Le Montais and sister
  4. Francoise Le Brocq and her husband, André Le Montais fils, son of Jean, were buried the same time in the same grave, the St Ouen Register records
  5. There were, in her generation two Jeanne Le Montais, daughters of André, as she was baptised. She is identified as belonging to this tree as her godparents were Jean Le Montais and his elder daughter - presumably the above Magdeleine
  6. His godfather was Andre Le Brocq. His marriage entry was: Andre Le Montais jnr of Grantez. By the date of his death, he was Andre snr of Grantez," which also confirms his son André as then being alive. His contemporary, the other Andre, was of Leoville
  7. Of La Ville au Bas
  8. Her parents and grandfather are named at her baptism. Her godparents were Jean Le Montais and Catherine Le Cornu, his wife
  9. Godparents were her grandfather Andre Le Montais (1648-1709) and Perronelle Bauche, widow of Elie Jean, grandmother
  10. The choice of godparents produce a link between the baby`s family and the Le Montais of Léoville. They were: Andre Le Montais, son of Andre of Leoville and Marie, daughter of Jean Le Vesconte (whom he would marry in January 1711)
  11. Godparents: Philippe Le Brocq, des Vaux, and Jeanne Jean, his wife
  12. Godparents: Clement Le Montais and his wife
