This tree is based upon research by Rosemary Hampton in A Jersey Family, from Vikings to Victorians, (CIFHS, 2009). There are elements which are of concern. We are also unhappy with the branch tree and a new tree has been prepared from parish church records which addresses some of the issues. The three trees should be studied together by those researching Le Riche ancestors

In common with the majority of our trees, this descendancy has been subject to regular review by site editors and checked against Jersey church records. Trees including French ancestry have also been checked as far as possible against French primary records. It is not always possible to carry out such checks on sections of trees with United Kingdom and/or colonial content

↑ Le Riche deeds, L/C/166/A1/1-12 at Jersey Archive, reveal the first name of Regnauld Le Riche`s wife to have been Peronelle, although her family name is not mentioned. Her husband was named as Regnault Le Riche. A case before the Cour d`Héritage in 1571 reveals that Regnauld Le Riche had a right to a share in the inheritance of Guillaume de Gruchy (1455- ) and Collette, his wife, which indicates that he was their grandson, through a de Gruchy mother, Peronelle de Gruchy. Rosemary Hampton, in A Jersey Family, from Vikings to Victorians, (CIFHS, 2009) confused Peronelle de Gruchy (1480- ), whose first name was not then known, with her great-niece, Guillemine de Gruchy, who married another Le Riche, Perrin Le Riche. ↑ In the Extente (1607): "John Le Riche for Vincent Le Riche of the Trinity, for the discharge of John Malzars, in the right of his wife, the daughter of Thomas Chevalier, for the Fee of Hockwin, with appurtenances, owed the Crown 10 sous greverie. For "greverie", see C.N. Aubin, A Glossary for the Historian of Jersey, (Jersey Archives Service, 1997), 41. Jean Malzard`s wife was Marguerite Chevalier of St Helier, the daughter and heiress of Thomas Chevalier of Mont au Pretre: J A Messervy, in ABSJ, V and L/C/166/AI/10, at the Jersey Archive. In the Extente (1528) Mahy Gosselin owed the Crown this sum and in that of 1331, it was owed by Robert Gosselin, for the Fee Hocquin, from which Messervy gathered that he was the seigneur, at this date. On this basis, the holder of the Fief Hocquin in 1528 was Mahy Gosselin and prior to 1607, Jean Malzard in right of Marguerite Chevalier, his wife, and in 1607, Jean Le Riche for his deceased father, Vincent Le Riche

↑ Of Brookvale, now called Trinity Hall, Rozel. In the Extente (1749): Elie de Gruchy in right of his wife, daughter of John Le Riche, son of Reynold, in right of Thomas Le Riche...for the Fee called Hocquin, 10 sous Greverie, indicating the 1749 holder of this St Helier fief, and his predecessors. The de Gruchys told, in the early 1900s, a visiting de Gruchy relative, Emma Hocquard, nee Hacquoil, when talking of their former Le Riche inheritance at Le Catel, adjoining the "Roman Wall," that it was une petite seigneurie: Letter from Mrs Hocquard to ex-Jurat William Laurence de Gruchy, now in the possession of the author of these notes. They also remarked that their farm had once been the largest in the hamlet of Le Catel, but now was one of the smaller ones--a familiar situation in Jersey
