Descendants of Peter Follet Matson

This tree was added to the site in 2015 and has been reviewed on a number of occasions since, most recently in 2025, by Mike Bisson

There is considerable confusion surrounding generations 3 and 4 in this tree. As originally submitted to us, it showed children of John Follett Matson by Ann Blampied, but we are now persuaded that one of these children was by his second wife, Mary Ann Philips, and the other belongs to his brother. We have now been informed of further children by Mary Ann. We are far from convinced that all the information supplied is accurate. It is possible that some of the children at generation 4 were recorded living with aunts and uncles at the time of censuses, and this has led to the confusion over whose sons and daughters they are. Because several of the trees at Ancestry quote each other as sources, this has created further difficulty in establishing all the relationships in the tree.

In common with the majority of our trees, this descendancy has been subject to regular review by site editors and checked against Jersey church records. Trees including French ancestry have also been checked as far as possible against French primary records. It is not always possible to carry out such checks on sections of trees with United Kingdom and/or colonial content
