Descendants of Pierre Poingdestre - 2

This tree added by Guy Dixon previously formed part of Descendants of Michel Poingdestre, but was always described by him as being so located merely as a tentative placement. Having a tree of his own, showing his descendants only, will give greater clarity
Poingdestre family page and links to other trees
In common with the majority of our trees, this descendancy has been subject to regular review by site editors and checked against Jersey church records. Trees including French ancestry have also been checked as far as possible against French primary records. It is not always possible to carry out such checks on sections of trees with United Kingdom and/or colonial content
If you want to search for records for any name in this family tree, or for any other family name, just click below on the first letter of the family name you are interested in. This will open a new tab in your browser giving you a list of family names beginning with that letter, for which there are baptism records in our database of half a million church and public registry records.
You can also select marriages or burials. Select the name you want and when the list of records is displayed you can easily refine the search, choosing a single parish, given name(s) and/or start and end dates.
The records are displayed 30 to a page, but by selecting the Wiki Table option at the top left of the page you can open a full, scrollable list. This list will either be displayed in a new tab or a pop-up window. You may have to edit the settings of your browser to allow pop-up windows for www.jerripediabmd.net. For the small number of family names for which a search generates more than 1,500 records you will have to refine your search (perhaps using start or end dates) to reduce the number of records found.

Notes and references
- ↑ The baptism of Pierre Poingdestre has yet to be found. He may have been a second cousin of Advocate Charles Poingdestre. His burial entry was, however, verbose: Pierre Poingdestre de la Vingtaine du Mont au Prêtre, séjournant dans la Vingtaine du Mont à L`Abbé
- ↑ Of Mont à L`Abbé, St Helier
- ↑ Widow of Jean Luce, see below. Widowed afresh in 1809, the will of Jean Alexandre, dated 1818, mentions her as widow of Pierre Poingdestre and ensuite of Matthieu Mauger. His will features legacies to her, with remainder to her children, to be equally divided upon her death, as well as to other members of the family of her late husband, Pierre

- ↑ Lieut-Colonel Militia; Jersey language poet
- ↑ Godparents: Elie Le Vesconte and Elizabeth Poingdestre, his wife, uncle and aunt
- ↑ Jean Poingdestre and his brother Daniel Pierre Poingdestre died without issue by 1872, as a partage, recorded in the Jersey Land Registry on 9 November of that year, relating to the property of their mother, Elizabeth Le Vavasseur dit Noel, names their senior nephew, Matthieu Le Geyt, gentleman, as the principal heir. The junior heirs were Charles Pierre Toutain (1816- ), representing his younger siblings, Lucretia Julia (1820-1901) and William John (1825- ), and the Rev James John Christie, with his sister, Mary Noel Christie. The partage also records that tElizabeth Le Vavasseur dit Noel had married first [1779, St Helier] Jean Luce, by whom there was a daughter, Elizabeth Luce, wife [in 1801] of Philippe Le Gros. The only child of the last union, Elizabeth Le Gros (1803-1871), although married, had died childless, as a result of which, her principal heir was Matthieu Le Geyt, together with his junior heirs. Elizabeth Le Vavasseur dit Noel`s Poingdestre second husband is named as Jean, instead of Pierre, a confusion, perhaps with her father`s name or that of her first husband, and her eldest daughter, whose son was the principal heir, is described, against the facts, as the only daughter: RP 254/25
- ↑ Godparents: Charles Poingdestre, son of Pierre, and Marie Coutanche

- ↑ Godparents: Me Daniel Poingdestre and Mse Jeanne Gaudin, his wife, Uncle and Aunt
- ↑ Jean Poingdestre and Jeanne, his sister. The baptism of the latter has yet to be found. Jean`s two daughters were beneficiaries named in the 1818 will of their great-uncle, Jean Alexandre. Jean was described as the testator`s defunct nephew, verifying his placement, and leading to the discoveries of the baptism dates of his daughters, the name of his wife and the date of their marriage
- ↑ Godparents: Elie Le Vesconte, uncle, and Jeanne Gaudin, aunt, wife of Daniel Poingdestre
- ↑ This marriage`s record has not been found but is confirmed by church records of their children`s baptisms, as well as from the 1818 will of Jean Alexandre. Their children included a son, Clement Dumaresq Godfray, and a daughter, Elizabeth
- ↑ Godparents: Charles Poingdestre and Elizabeth Le Boutillier
