In common with the majority of our trees, this descendancy has been subject to regular review by site editors and checked against Jersey church records. Notes and references

  1. ↑ Settled in Trinity. The baptismal register of St John has missing sections at this period. Simeon`s baptism has therefore not been found there or elsewhere. The Jersey Land Register, if consulted at the Jersey Archive, will provide his parentage. However, in a sale of part of Simeon`s inheritance, dated 19 November 1720, he is described as being the "co-heir of Lucas Romeril, his uncle". The sale was of that part of his inheritance received from his uncle, for the price of 9 cabots of annual wheat rente, to Jean Romeril, Lucas`s principal heir: L/C/110/A/5 (1720), at the abovementioned Archive
  2. ↑ Buried in Trinity, as "the wife of Simeon Romeril"
  3. ↑ Esther died in St Saviour, her husband`s parish. Her age at death was not given. Her placement on this tree is based upon godparent evidence, as no church record has been found for her baptism. Two of her six children had godparents featured on this tree: “Mr Charles Romeril and Msse Esther Bisson, his mother” (1757) and “Me Charles Romeril and Mse Marie Bisson” (1765). A third godparent choice was of a close family relative of these Romerils, on the Bisson side, “Me Benjamin Bisson and Susanne Esnouf, his wife” (1755)

  5. ↑ Lieutenant in the Militia. Charles Romeril Gent., principal heir of his brother Jean Romeril, son of Charles, son and principal heir of Simeon Romeril, heir of his late nephew Jean Romeril, sold on the 2nd March 1793 the property Le Douet, in the north of St John, to the procureur of the merchant, Philippe Nicolle, son of Philippe, son of Jean, son of Philippe. The contract of sale mentions the house, outhouses, yard, chasses, spring or douet, Jardin à Potage, Clos des Escaliers, Grand Jardin, Clos de la Mare, Clos called Le France Fief and Jardin du Douet. Mse Marie Bisson, mother of the vendor, consented to the sale: R.P. 79/106 (1793). In Stevens, Arthur and Stevens, Jersey Place Names, (Volume I), Le Clos des Escaliers is mentioned as having been owned, as was no doubt the rest of the property, in 1747 by Jean Romeril, who was doubtless the above mentioned nephew. Charles Romeril also sold, in 1783, La Garenne and La Maison de la Croiserie, in Trinity, with a fraction under 60 vergees of land, the inheritance of his mother, see The Bissons of Trinity
