Descendants of Thomas Monckton
The Monckton family, two branches of which came to live in Jersey in the 19th century, were from Cavil, Yorkshire, where the head of this tree, Thomas, was Lord of the Manor in the 15th century. A member of the main branch of the family. John Monckton, was created Viscount Galway and Baron Killard in Ireland in 1727, and these titles passed down through the generations. We do not know what brought members of the Monckton family to Jersey but the graves of four of them can be found in the cemetery of St Brelade's Church. This tree concentrates on the lines down to those family members who were born or lived in Jersey
