Descendants of William Battam



William, and his brother John, both moved to Jersey in the mid-18th century and appear to have married sisters. The tree was added to the site in 2012 and in June 2017 was checked against church records and further details added. The tree now includes almost all the Battams in Jersey church baptism registers.

A further review in 2020 resulted in the addition of more details. Some individuals found to have been shown under two sets of parents, or the wrong parents, have been moved or deleted. Extra names and details were added during a 2024 review by Mike Bisson

In common with the majority of our trees, this descendancy has been subject to regular review by site editors and checked against Jersey church records. Trees including French ancestry have also been checked as far as possible against French primary records.   13. ↑ Amelia was married in 1864 to George Cornelius Witt, who drowned two months before the birth of their daughter, Amelia Georgina. She had five more children, as shown in this tree. It is believed in the family that they were all children of John Gregory, whom Amelia married in 1883, when she was 43 and he was 78. There is no father named in the registration of any of the children's births, but John, Alfred and Francis were acknowledged as children of the couple when they married. John Gregory died three months after the wedding
