Listed building

A good example of a mid-19th century rural villa [2] retaining its proportions and some historic features, of particular note the front verandah. Two-storey, three-bay house with set back wings to east and west, conservatory to east.

Hipped, slate roof with central small dormer; paired rendered chimneys, with moulded cornices, on each gable. Concave curved metal canopy with timber lattice uprights across three bays at ground floor level. First-floor windows with original louvred shutters. Entrance wing and service building to east.

Notes and references

  1. There is some confusion between this property and others, known variously as Highfield, Highfield Farm and Highfield Villa in the neighbourhood
  2. No explanation has been forthcoming about how listed building consultants distinguish between a house and a villa
