Farmstead with 18th century, or earlier, origins. As can be seen from the pictures on this page, the house was semi-derelict when acquired about 25 years ago and has been restored over time, retaining original features, including an elegant mahogany staircase, oak beams, Victorian fireplaces and a bread oven.

Listed building

Historic farm group which retains its external historic character and contributes to the scenic value of the area.

La Tenue emulates the polite architecture of Georgian fashion but with a continuing local character. 19th century farm group with earlier origins - a building shown on 1795 Richmond map.

Farmhouse range with two-storey, five-bay house, flanked by wings adjoining in line to east and west. Main house front elevation: with pitched slate roof and two large ashlar granite and rendered gable chimneys. Walls granite rubble with irregular quoins and dressed long and short stonework to openings.

To the right, a two-storey, three-bay wing with pantiled roof. To the left a range of granite outbuildings with pitched slate roof.

St Mary Treasury

The 1983 parish treasury recorded this as an old farm, in the Le Gresley for generations, in need of sympathetic rejuventaion. The pictures show that this has happened.

  1. The present house is undoubtedly 19th century, but this stone may indicate that there was an earlier house here.
