Families associated with the property
- Barette: The house was built for master mariner Joseph Barette [2] in 1857. He was master of the Electric Flash in 1859 and clearly had a love of Malta, which was ironic, because he was drowned off its coast. The house remained in his family until the 2020s. In 1941 Joseph Hedley Barette (1902- ), his wife Drusilla Alice, nee Le Seelleur (1904- ) and their children Vernon Hedley (1928- ), Betty Drusilla (1930- ), Alan Lyndon (1932- ), Brian Keith (1935- ) Keith Raymond (1937- ) and Lester David (1938- ) were living here
- De Caux: In 1940 an application was made by Winter Philip de Carteret, of Malta House, on behalf of carpenter and farm worker Philip de Caux (1916- ) for postponement of his military service. In 1941 Philip John de Caux (1912- ) and his wife Alice May, nee Rondel (1913- ) were living here. Philip was described as a farmer. It is presumed that he and Philip John were brothers.

Notes and references
- ↑ This is unlikely to have been a market value transaction for the whole property, and may have been an outbuilding before conversion to residential use
- ↑ Joseph Barette's name is found spelt in a number of ways. John Jean's Jersey Sailing Ships lists Joseph Hedley Barrett as a sea captain, but his baptism and marriage records show him as Joseph Barette. There is no official record to indicate that he had Hedley as a second forename, as did his great-grandson Joseph Hedley (1903- ) who eventually inherited the house
- ↑ Although eventually used as a farmhouse, Malta House was not built as such, but as a family home for a sea captain
