Historic Environment Record entry

Listed building

This 16th century building is an early example of domestic architecture, and retains its external scale and proportions. This house appears to have an early 16th century core which faced north, evident in the chamfered arched doorway. It is thought to have been turned to face south in 1689.

Shown on the Richmond Map of 1795.

Two-storey, fouor-bay house with two-bay west wing. House at lower level to surrounding ground.

Raised front garden to south with rubble boundary wall to east road.

Potential remnants of gable fireplaces.

Old Jersey Houses

The author was not impressed with this property's antiquity, devoting a single paragraph to the house, suggesting that the only evidence of an old house is a four-piece first floor window and the inscribed gable stone.
