Listed building

Built in early 1820s, an early surviving town house. Well preserved, it retains almost all of its original features.

Part of a row of houses built circa 1820 - part of the early 19th century expansion of the town. Land appears to have been bought for development circa 1820.

End terrace, two-storey, three-bay plus attic with door to side. Hipped tile roof with brick chimney and raked dormer. Front elevation: rendered to ashlar and keystone effect. Six-pane on attic, two 12-pane on first floor, further 12-pane on half landing and large four-pane on ground floor: all timber frame sashes. Half glazed four-panel timber door and granite steps. Former carriage throughway at left. Side elevation part rendered, part rubble. Rear elevation: rendered. Two ground floor and four first floor four-pane timber frame sashes. Six-panel door with three-panel overlight and side lights leads to yard with lean-to extension, now kitchen and bathroom.

Ground floor originally two rooms with six-panel doors. Front room retains original fireplace. Hallway with board and ledge door to under-stairs cupboard. Original staircase, handrail and balusters. First floor room rear has original fireplace covered over. Second smaller room with concealed original fireplace. First floor room front has original fireplace covered over. Six-panel door to left of fireplace leads to smaller room. Double - three-panel each -cupboard doors to right. Two six-panel doors and one four-panel door. Stairs up to attic. Dormer and small rooflight at rear.
