Notes and references

  1. Nellie Rault, as will be seen from the page detailing the circumstances of her death, should undoubtedly be included in the WW1 Roll of Service, but her inclusion in the Great War Study Group's Roll of Honour is inexplicable. She was not in the Island's official Roll of Honour, which was published a short time before her murder. Some servicemen who died after the war ended but as a direct result of injuries caused during their service, have rightly been added to the Roll of Honour. Nellie Rault's death, however, had nothing to do with the War, nor to her service during the war. It has also never been proved to have been related to her post-war Army service. She had signed on for a further term in the Army after the war ended and her killer and the circumstances which led to her death, have never been identified
