Historic Environment Record entry
Listed building
Part of a row of early 1800s seafront cottages which originally had their back doors accessing the beach.
A 1798 contract records the purchase of various plots of land and properties by Aaron de St Croix, and the completed row is shown as St Croix Place on the 1834 Le Gros map.
The houses are believed to have been associated with the nearby Allix shipbuilding yard – with a former Rope Walk once to the rear.
They retain early character as well as evidence of aggrandisement in the mid-late 19th century.
End of terrace, two-storey, five-bay cottage with pitched slate roof, rendered chimney stacks, two small dormers to south side.
