St Luke marriage records

1908-2002

A typical page from the Superintendent Registrar's index of St Luke marriage records

This page contains images of the Registrar's indexes of Anglican marriages in St Luke from 1908 to 2002

St Luke marriage records to 1940 are included in our database of church and civil records. In 2023 we added this page of images of the indexes to the records up to 2002. These records will eventually be digitised and added to our database, but are presented here as images of the pages in the Registrar's index.

The indexes are divided here into three sections, representing the three Registrar's volumes covering the period of 94 years. The images have been presented at a size which should allow the text to be read on most devices.

Note that each volume is shown in A to Z order, but for each initial letter the entries are in order of the pages on which they appear in the volume; ie in chronological order. You can estimate the date of the marriage more accurately by referring to the page numbers for records in each set. Lower page numbers are at the beginning of the date range, higher numbers at the end of the range.

The index does not combine groom and bride to provide a full marriage record, but if you identify one party, the other will appear on the same page.

There are usually more than two marriages to a page so if you only know the name of one party, these indexes will not necessarily help identify their partner.

However, using the name you have identified, the date range and the page number will give you the necessary information to provide the Registrar's office when requesting a copy certificate - see links below for more information.

We apologise for the poor quality of some images. They are taken from photocopies of the original register indexes in the Public Library and the quality of some of these copies leaves much to be desired. The indexes were photocopied, cut and pasted on to A4 sheets and then photocopied for a second time.
