There's an entry in this list '8. Sir Philippe de Carteret (1180-1279) m Anne Macheneuf (1185- )' which would make him 99 when he died. However in the De Carteret Biographies page there is no year of death listed. Is there a source for the 1279 date of death?

The position (and detail) of this entry needs further assessment:

If the question refers to the parents of Philippe (as shown on the tree) who married Marguerite d'Abigny, The 'CARTULAIRE des Isles Normandes: Recueil de Documents concernant L'HISTOIRE DE CES ISLES' suggests otherwise. This document is in the Societe Jersiaise. A frontispiece reads JERSEY: The Beresford Library Limited. 1924. It shows on Page 56: Philippe = Marguerite d'Aubigny n. vers 1190 m. 1215 ob 1254. and the father as Renaud ob 1215, with no reference to his 'wife'.

Another double counting?

Philippe de Carteret (1410-1475) appears twice in the tree. The first occurence is in generation 17, where he is given as a son of Renaud de Carteret (1387-1480), without further information. He later appears in generation 16 as the brother of this Renaud. The dates are the same but now his wife is given as Margaret (Jane?) Newton (1414-1474), d of Sir William.

The tree shows Renaud (1387) and the second Philippe to be the sons of Renaud (1365-1461) and Perrinne Marechal (1365- ). If the dates are correct, the brothers were born 23 years appart and Perrine would have been 45 when Philippe was born, not impossible, but a bit surprising.

The de Carteret Biographies give the elder Renaud's birth as 1359 rather thhan 1365, say he was seigneur oif St Ouen and was succeeded by his son Renaud, who would presumably also be seigneur. There is no separate entry for the younger Renaud. The next entry is for a Philippe de Carteret born in 1400, who is said to have married the unnamed only daughter of Sir William Newton. Appart fromnm the different birth date, this looks like the second Philippe mentioned above. However, he is describes also as Seigneur of St Ouen, so fits better as the son rather than brother of Renaud (1387), except that, if the dates in the tree are to be believed, Philippe pre-deceased Renaud, so would not have inherited the seigneurship.

There seems to be a problem with Elizabeth Carteret at gen. 22, said to be born in 1597 when her father Philippe (the one who married Rachel Poulett) died in 1594. One other tree has this same birth year, but not the "Sark Colonists" tree, which gives no birth year. Likewise the Armorial gives no birth year. Clearly she must have been older. Incidentally her first husband Samuel De Beauvoir was deceased by 1616.
