1. The connection of Noel Ricard (gen. 3) to the individuals preceding him on this tree should be deemed highly speculative and perhaps even unlikely, in the absence of supporting evidence. 2. Noel (gen. 3) and Noel (gen/ 4) are most likely one and the same, with Jeanne Cerice being his first wife and Jeanne Le Marquand his second, as suggested in the text. 3. There is a record of Noel's marriage (St Brelade, 8 Feb. 1637) to Jeanne Cerice, who was probably (as indicated in the text) the Jeanne Ricard who was buried at St. Brelade 4 June 1645. 4. No record has been found for Noel's marriage to Jeanne Le Marquand, but it is likely to have taken place earlier than the 1651 date given in this tree, and perhaps as soon as only a year or two after the death of his first wife. (Note: The marriage of a "Noe" Ricard to a Marie Le Marquand was recorded in neighboring St Mary 16 Oct 1650 (though noted as taking place in St Ouen), but it cannot be assumed that they were the same as Noel and Jeanne. 5. George Ricard/Ricker, shown in this tree as born 1655, is known from New England sources to have been the older brother of Mathurin (bpt. 1654). The Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire, a highly regarded compilation based on original records, reports that George was in Dover (N.H.) by 1672 and bought land in 1674 (by which time he must have been of age to do so, i.e., at least 21). Although he does not appear in the Jersey baptismal records, he was probably born in the late 1640s, as an older child of Noel Ricard and Jeanne Le Marquand, who (as noted above) most likely married during that period.
