Talk:Descendants of Mathieu Deslandes

Matthieu Deslandes (1628- ) could not have married by 1642 and fathered Elizabeth (1642) and Josue (1645). Yet the latter was christened "fils Mathieu" and features quite often in the Land Registry as "Josue fils Matthieu", and Elizabeth was christened as the daughter of Mathieu. That their father, if he were the elder Matthieu (1600?- ) married twice, once in 1627 to Catherine Nicolle and then again in the 1640s is a non-starter, as Catherine Nicolle outlived her husband. There has to be another Mathieu, not yet identified.
