Descendants of Philippe Alexandre - 2 (new section)
Generation 4 - Matthieu ALEXANDRE - believe he married Anne RENOUF 1755, St B (as per tree) Anne buried Jan 1827 aged 90yrs. The eldest child is missing from this tree:
Generation 5 ST BRELADE BAPTISM (Jerripedia) 27 March 1757 - Anne fe Matthieu ALEXANDRE Jnr et Anne RENOUF [Mathieu ALEXANDRE, Grandpere et Anne ROBICHON]. Anne ROBICHON being the maternal Grandmother.
This Anne md Mathieu ALEXANDRE (just to confuse us further) fs Jean & Jeanne MARET. BDOJ states he was the first Printer on the Island? Anne died 3 Aug 1843, St Brelade widow of Mathieu. She was aged 86yrs 4mths in burial entry.
Anne's youngest sibling Edouard (b 1770) is married according to this tree - but there is a burial: ST BRELADE BURIAL (Jerripedia) 26 Dec 1770 - Edouard fs Matthieu ALEXANDRE et Anne RENOUF.
Descendants of Philippe Alexandre - 2 (new section) -Gen #3,4 &5
Generation 3: Matthieu ALEXANDRE (1689) md Elizabeth DE LA PLACE md 1710, Grouville. The following issue are missing from this tree: Elizabeth bapt 1713, St B Jeanne bapt 1715, St B Judith bapt 1720, St B
The two Jeans (1717/1718 and 1718/1719 are confusing – they have the same GPs and the same day/month for baptism - I have checked the register and there are definitely the two entries however I have been unable to find a burial for the first Jean. Mathieu (1711) was buried 1712. Elizabeth DE LA PLACE was buried Aug 1727.
Tutelle between Mathieu Alexandre, Philippe Le Cousteur [Couteur] Edouard Pipon, Jean Falle, Jean Mourant, Jean Vibert, Michel du Pre. Records that Mathieu Alexandre is appointed tuteur of the children of himself and the late Elizabeth de la Place. Reference: L/C/51/A1/126 Date: September 2nd 1727
Generation 4:
Matthieu (1725) md Anne RENOUF - as per this tree.
Their son Matthieu:
ST BRELADE BAPTISM (Jerripedia) 29 Mar 1762 - Mathieu fs Mathieu ALEXANDRE et Anne RENOUF [Jean ALEXANDRE et Anne MARETT, sa femme]
After much searching I now believe this to be an error - there is no marriage to an Anne but there is to a Jeanne MARETT in the correct timeframe. I believe this is Jean baptised 1718/1719, Uncle of the child.supported by the marriage entry:
ST BRELADE MARRIAGE (Jerripedia) 03 Apr 1745 - Jean ALEXANDRE fs Mathieu et Jeanne MARETT
I believe Jeanne is the dau of George MARETT & Rachel POINGDESTRE bapt 1718, St Peter
Daughter of Jean/Jeanne MARETT: ST BRELADE BAPTISM (Jerripedia) 27 Oct 1751 - Jeanne fe Jean ALEXANDRE et Jeanne MARETT [Matthieu ALEXANDRE, Grandpere et Elizabeth, sa fille]
Son Mathieu had the same GPs. (NB - I have a note that he may have been the first Printer in Jersey?)
ST BRELADE BAPTISM (Jerripedia) 05 Mar 1759 - Pierre fs Jean ALEXANDRE et Jeanne MARETT [Mathieu ALEXANDRE, Grandpere, Jean DALLAIN et Marie ALEXANDRE]
I have yet to identify Marie ALEXANDRE!
Jean DALLAIN is more than likely an Uncle of the child having married Judith ALEXANDRE (1720):
ST BRELADE MARRIAGE (Jerripedia) 17 Dec 1753 - Jean DALLAIN, St P et Judith ALEXANDRE
They are named as GPs as follows:
ST BRELADE BAPTISM (Jerripedia) 12 Aug 1764 - Judith fs Mathieu ALEXANDRE et Anne RENOUF [Jean DALAIN et Judith ALEXANDRE, sa femme]
ST BRELADE BAPTISM (Jerripedia) 08 Aug 1790 - Philippe fs Philippe LE BROCQ et Judith ALEXANDRE [Me Jean DALLAIN et Mse Judith ALEXANDRE, sa femme]
The above Judith is the daughter of Mathieu and Anne RENOUF bapt 1764 (as per the tree)
ST PETER BAPTISM (Jerripedia) 04 Dec 1756 - Jean fs Jean DALLAIN et Judith ALEXANDRE [Mr Matthieu ALEXANDRE, Jean ALEXANDRE son fils et Mse Jeanne ALEXANDRE femme Jean BALLAINE, Jnr]
The above fits with Jeanne (1715) marrying Jean BALLEINE Jnr.
ST BRELADE MARRIAGE (Jerripedia) 17 Jul 1756 - Jean BALLEINE (St P) et Jeanne ALEXANDRE (St B)
As you would suspect from Jeanne's age at the time of marriage there appear to be no issue. I am not aware of any earlier marriage at this time.
I cannot identify a marriage for Elizabeth (1713) - I suspect that being the eldest daughter she took over the care of household for her father. I am unable to prove when her father Matthieu died but think it may be 1772? He was living 1767. I am unable to identify her burial at this stage.
Returning to Jean DALLAIN/Judith ALEXANDRE marriage:
DATESTONE 306. IDL.IAL.1773. Jean Dallain and Judith Alexandre m. (St B) 17.12.1753; The Oaks (St P)
You can refer to the DALLAIN family of Jersey page (St Peter/St Mary branch) - this property tranferred to the ALEXANDRE family who I understand still live there, or did until recently.
