"Pierre Mallet had owned a part share in a company (probably a trading partnership) with the curious name of Burin and Lawn.." Note that there are two communities in Newfoundland located approximately 50 km apart named Burin and Lawn. Per the article "A timeline of Jersey's involvement in the Newfoundland and Gaspe cod fishing industry" the Le Feuvres were early settlers in Burin, as early as 1583. The existence of a trading partnership called Burin and Lawn suggests a tie to the fishing industry in Newfoundland.
Can anyone provide any further information about the Burin and Lawn trading company?
