1st Battalion Devonshire Regiment

The 1st Battalion Devonshire Regiment replaced the 2nd Battalion King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment as the island's garrison in 1911 and remained in the island for three years until the outbreak of the Great War

The Devonshires depart for war service
The garrison regiment was commanded by Lieutenant-General Sir GM Bullock, KCB. They were based in Fort Regent and St Peter's Barracks.
The regimental football team were Jersey Football League champions in 1911-12 and 1913-14.
The Battalion left Jersey on 4 August 1914 and on the 21st of the month they landed at Le Havre and joined the Communication Defence Troops.
