2nd Battalion King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment
The 2nd Batallion King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment arrived in Jersey on 5 November 1908 to replace the outgoing 1st Batallion East Surrey Regiment
Parades and concerts
The incoming regiment was to play a major part in island life, with parades and concerts open to the public at Fort Regent, ceremonies in the Royal Square, including the proclamation of King George V, and demonstrations of their fighting skills and fitness in mock battles and gymnastic displays on People's Park.
Local photographers were on hand to record these events and many of their pictures survive 100 years later. The majority of the pictures below were taken by Albert Smith. Click on any thumbnail image to see the full-size version.
The regimental football team were Jersey Football League champions in 1908-1909, 1909-1910 and 1910-1911
