Type of property
Suburban terrace, Victorian in origin, of seven unified houses (three larger homes bracketed by four smaller buildings). Built by Henry Barrett at some time between 1865, when he purchased the land from Noel de Gruchy, and 1884, when he sold number 6 to Edward Brasford.
From 1871 to 1891 there were a series of female-only, or female-led households that had short stays. They included women born in England, France, Africa and India, along with local women, many of whom were the wives of soldiers, seamen or fishermen.
In the 1901 Census, Herbert Heath, a widowed clergyman, was recorded as living at No 6. After his death in 1921, the the Sayers family lived at the property for two years, and it was later occupied by Leonard Kettlewell, who also lived at Vauvert, another of the nominated properties.

Notes and references
- ↑ Jerripedia editor Mike Bisson lived here as a child for most of the 1950s, first at No 3 the first house with dormer windows to the right of centre, and then at No 1, on the left. 'We always spelt the name Belvedere, although it is quite clear looking up at the name at first floor level on the outer wall of the terrace that Belvidere is correct. Perhaps we never looked!', Mike recalls
