Descendants of Germain Gruchy



A tree of unknown origin, to which Guy Dixon has added some court references and godparents, but generation 6 is problematic.

This is one of two Gruchy trees that, at present, have no definite affiliation. As all the issue of Francois Gruchy, son of Rauff Gruchy are named in court records, in the absence of any evidence of collateral Gruchy branches at that time, it may safely be assumed that Germain was a nephew of his, and therefore a grandson of Rauff

  2. ↑ Jean Gruchy, son of Jean, son of Germain, was involved in an action before the Cour d`Héritage: CH 6/434. He was also first party in the action involving part of his grandfather`s inheritance that, having passed to the latter`s daughter Colette, had been afterwards acquired by Leonard Luce, below: L/C/66/C6/29 (1600), at Jersey Archive. He was buried in St Clement as "Jean Gruchy senior"
  3. ↑ An Elizabeth Gruchy was baptised in this year in St Clement, but was daughter of Jean
  4. ↑ Jean Grochie, eldest son of Jean, eldest son of Germain Grochie and Regnaulde his wife, of the first party; and Leonard Luce, in right of Colette Grochie, daughter of Germain and Regnaulde, who was the daughter of Guille [Guillaume] de Grochie, of the second party: L/C/66/C6/29, at Jersey Archive

They jointly sued Thomas de Gruchy, their wives` only brother, in May 1548 before the Cour d`Heritage, in right of their wives, regarding the estate of their father and mother-in-law, Guillaume de Gruchy and Marguerite, his wife. Guillaume was mentioned in the Jersey Chantry Certificate of 1550. Thomas de Gruchy was, in 1573, Prevôt of Trinity
