Descendants of Jean Le Feuvre

This tree was added in 2022 by Guy Dixon and the children verified of Philippe Le Feuvre and his wife, Susanne Hacquoil (gen. 4)

A review by Mike Bisson resulted in the addition of a descendant line from Edouard (1789- ) at generation 5

Le Feuvre family page and links to other trees

In common with the majority of our trees, this descendancy has been subject to regular review by site editors and checked against Jersey church records. Trees including French ancestry have also been checked as far as possible against French primary records. It is not always possible to carry out such checks on sections of trees with United Kingdom and/or colonial content

Record Search

If you want to search for records for any name in this family tree, or for any other family name, just click below on the first letter of the family name you are interested in. This will open a new tab in your browser giving you a list of family names beginning with that letter, for which there are baptism records in our database of half a million church and public registry records.

You can also select marriages or burials. Select the name you want and when the list of records is displayed you can easily refine the search, choosing a single parish, given name(s) and/or start and end dates.

The records are displayed 30 to a page, but by selecting the Wiki Table option at the top left of the page you can open a full, scrollable list. This list will either be displayed in a new tab or a pop-up window. You may have to edit the settings of your browser to allow pop-up windows for www.jerripediabmd.net. For the small number of family names for which a search generates more than 1,500 records you will have to refine your search (perhaps using start or end dates) to reduce the number of records found.

Notes and references

  1. Du Coin. Buried, 4 March 1752, Jean Le Feuvre Senr. of Le Coin. Two infants matching the description of 'Jean Le Feuvre, fils Jean' were baptiseded in St Ouen in the same decade and a half. Both were "Jean, fils Me Jean Le Feuvre junr." To verify which was the forbear of the line featured, will necessitate research in the Jersey Land Registry. One was baptised in 1709, later than one would anticipate, for someone marrying in 1725, although he may have been a sickly child, whose baptism was delayed. The other, christened in 1704, was probably the progenitor of the line shown. His mother or grandmother appears to have been a Le Montais of Le Coin. His godparents were Me Pierre Le Montais of Le Coin and Catherine Le Montais, wife of Me Jean Le Feuvre Senr. If this 1704 christening proves to be correct, which seems likely, then this tree will have yet another Jean Le Feuvre at its head, who will have been born circa 1650
  2. Jean and Jeanne married at St Mary, 15/06/1725 as recorded in St Ouen`s register: "Jean Le Feuvre Junr., du Coin and Jeanne Jean, du Ville au Bas". Jeanne was buried shortly after the birth of her only child, 6th March 1725/6: "Jeanne Jean, femme de Jean Le Feuvre junr. du Coin"
  3. Godparents: Philippe Jean of Ville au Bas and Marie, his sister. Jean Le Feuvre, "fils Jean, fils Jean" on the christenings of his children in 1747, 1749, 1753, etc. He is recorded as being of Le Coin in 1758 and 1760. The burial in St Ouen, in February 1799, of "Me Jean Le Feuvre, fils Jean..du Coin" probably refers to this Jean but could perhaps refer to his eldest son, Jean
  4. Godparents were Me Philippe Jean of Ville au Bas (to the west of St Ouen`s parish church) and Mse Jeanne Tocque
  5. From the baptismal entries of Jeanne Le Feuvre (1782) and her sister Anne (1787), in which both parents are named, it is evident that Philippe Le Feuvre and his wife, like Philippe`s brother Edouard, had moved to Les Landes
  6. Godparents: Jean Le Feuvre and Elizabeth Malzard, his wife, Uncle and Aunt of the child. Jean had already been, shortly before his marriage, godfather of Marie Le Feuvre, daughter of Philippe, in 1774
  7. Godparents: Edouard Le Feuvre and Jeanne Denize, his wife, Uncle and Aunt of the infant
  8. Although Francois' baptism date precedes his parents' marriage, there is no indication in their marriage entry that he was acknowledged as their son
  9. Grower at l'Etacq
  10. Farming at Grosnez Farm in 1901
  11. Godparents were Pierre Le Brocq and Marie Le Feuvre, his wife
  12. Godparents were Jean Huelin Jnr and Elizabeth Le Feuvre, his wife
  13. Godfather: Edouard Le Brocq. Edouard was baptised as "fils Jean Le Feuvre, fils Jean, fils Jean". There was a second Edouard Le Feuvre "fils Jean, fils Jean", but he was described, on burial in 1803, as having lived "near the Presbytery." Edouard, having two elder brothers to inherit from their father at Le Coin, had moved, by 1789, to Les Landes
  14. Godparents were Jean Le Ruez and Marie Denize, Uncle and Aunt
  15. Godparents were the same as for Marie Le Feuvre, born of the first marriage, namely Jean Le Ruez, this time having his father`s name, also being Jean, mentioned, and Marie Denize, his wife. Having been brother-in-law and sister, respectively, of Edouard`s first wife, they were not, therefore, on this occasion described as Uncle and Aunt
  16. Of Les Fontaines, La Profonde Rue, St Ouen
  17. Godparents: Edouard Le Feuvre, Grandfather, and Susanne Le Sbirel, widow of Jean Vibert, being a maternal relative
  18. Godparents: Philippe Luce, son of Philippe, and Marie Vibert, Uncle and [maternal] Aunt
  19. Born in 1818 and baptised in 1819, Marie is usefully described on christening as "daughter of Jean, son of Edouard, son of Jean, of Les Landes". Marie`s godparents were: Charles Le Boutillier, fils Aaron, and Catherine Vibert, Uncle and [maternal] Aunt
  20. Described, on baptism, as "Philippe, son of Jean, son of Edouard (La Fontaine)". The 1871 U.K. Census of St Ouen features Philippe and Esther, the former as a 46 year-old landowner of 18 acres, being of about 45 vergées. That of 1881 shows an increase to 20 acres, or to about 50 vergées
  21. Esther ad her husband attended the Methodist church, Leoville, St Ouen, where they are buried. A memorial inscription furnishes the dates of birth and death of most of their children, as well as of their parents
  22. Of La Fontaine, Millais, Farmer; then of La Rosière, St Ouen, Auctioneer (1901-1911-); Constable of St Ouen, 1903-1912
  23. In the 1911 U.K. Census, St Ouen, Mary Ann Rachel Le Feuvre is given as the mother of three children, none of whom were then living
  24. Merchant and then Farmer, living at La Fosse, St Peter (1891 Census), with his St Peter-born, widowed mother, Esther. He later bought Somerleigh, Augrès, in the same parish, and was Constable of St Peter, 1907-1910-1912, and was afterwards a Jurat
  25. Teacher of Elocution, Jersey Ladies College and Deputy in the States of Jersey. She was unmarried
  26. OV; farmer and grower, formerly of Les Augerez House, St Peter; retired to Beaumont
