Remon family page and links to other trees
In common with the majority of our trees, this descendancy has been subject to regular review by site editors and checked against Jersey church records. Trees including French ancestry have also been checked as far as possible against French primary records. It is not always possible to carry out such checks on sections of trees with United Kingdom and/or colonial content
If you want to search for records for any name in this family tree, or for any other family name, just click below on the first letter of the family name you are interested in. This will open a new tab in your browser giving you a list of family names beginning with that letter, for which there are baptism records in our database of half a million church and public registry records.
You can also select marriages or burials. Select the name you want and when the list of records is displayed you can easily refine the search, choosing a single parish, given name(s) and/or start and end dates.
The records are displayed 30 to a page, but by selecting the Wiki Table option at the top left of the page you can open a full, scrollable list. This list will either be displayed in a new tab or a pop-up window. You may have to edit the settings of your browser to allow pop-up windows for www.jerripediabmd.net. For the small number of family names for which a search generates more than 1,500 records you will have to refine your search (perhaps using start or end dates) to reduce the number of records found.

Notes and references
- ↑ Recorded as son of Josue
- ↑ Buried as Collette Lemprière, wife of Josue Remon
- ↑ The will of Philippe Le Veslet of St Mary, dated and proved in 1675 (D/Y/A/3/89, at Jersey Archive), mentions a house bought from his brother Thomas Le Veslet, an acquisition, and not inherited land, which he could therefore bequeath. He left it to his sister Catherine Le Veslet, who had few namesakes, in this generation, with whom she could be confused. Catherine must have been a single, as yet unmarried woman or a widow. The only Catherine Le Veslet in that generation had married in 1664, Josue Remon. The last of their three children was baptised in May 1672. Had she been a widow by 1675, as now appears likely, her husband must have died between mid-1671 and 1675. His was almost certainly the burial recorded exactly in this time-frame, in St John, Josue, son of Josue Remon, son of Josue, on 16 December 1673. She married, when widowed, (1692, St L) Josue Le Sebirel, was godmother to her grandson Josue Remon in 1693, and died in 1718
- ↑ Of Vingtaine du Douet, St John. He was living in 1750
- ↑ Marriage date not yet known, but confirmed from church baptismal registers
- ↑ Jean Remon and Catherine lived at what is now known as Folly Farm (La Hougue), on the west side of Rue des Buttes, St John. Their initials and a date engraved there, possibly on inheritance, are: IRM CQR 1734. Jean made his will in 1750 (proved in 1760), leaving £4 to his father and £1 each to his brothers Abraham and Thomas and sister Elizabeth. The remainder was to pass to his wife, Catherine Querée: D/Y/A/10/54, at Jersey Archive. They had no surviving issue
- ↑ The godparents of Josue Remon son of Jean in 1693 were: Catherine Le Veslet, mother of Jean and Josue Le Sebirel, her husband”
- ↑ Jacques` godmother was Perrotine, paternal grandmother
- ↑ Godparents make up for gaps and ambiguities in the church registers. Jean son of Josue`s godparents were Jean, brother of Josue, and Catherine Querée, his wife
- ↑ Her potential placement as a daughter of Madeleine Fleury, godmother of Marguerite Remon (1787- ) daughter of Josue, and of Jean Remon (1797- ), son of Thomas, is confirmed by her burial as Madeleine Remon daughter of Jean: see Descendants of Guill Remon
- ↑ Elizabeth was mentioned in the 1815 will (proved in 1827) of Thomas Remon, a nephew, as were the names of both her parents: D/Y/A/20/107. This shows that Jean Remon and Magdeleine Fleury, his wife, had descendants, as now shown below
- ↑ Godparents were Jean Remon and Catherine Querée, his wife
- ↑ Shown marrying Thomas de Gruchy in 1776. A partage, RP 73/78 (1790), shows that the Rachel Remon who married de Gruchy was the daughter of Thomas Remon and Elizabeth Arthur
- ↑ Marriage record not found
- ↑ Sailor, living in the Vingtaine du Nord, St John, aged 50. Fisherman, living in St John, in 1858
- ↑ Sailor in 1857
- ↑ Proprietor
- ↑ Carpenter in 1858
- ↑ Widow of Henry Russell
- ↑ Master of Dandy in 1826. This was probably the Thomas Remon who made his will in 1815, and died in or shortly before 1827, when the will was proved: D/Y/A/20/107, at Jersey Archive. The will mentions the testator`s brothers and sisters, Josue, George, Marguerite and Francoise, with remainder to his aunt Elizabeth Remon, daughter of Jean and Madeleine Fleury. This shows that Thomas, the testator, was Jean Remon and Magdeleine Fleury`s grandson, and that his siblings were thus also grandchildren
- ↑ Godfather: François Fleury
- ↑ Godparents: Abraham Remon and Marie Perrée, his wife. His death is recorded: Thomas Remon, son of Jean, buried 16 September 1800, after having been drowned in La Grande Rade (the outer roads, or harbour approach), the night of 31 August 1800 - St John register. He was presumably a sailor. He should not be confused with Thomas Remon, who married in St Lawrence in 1799, Susanne Le Sueur. They were described as being, on marrying, both of St John, which may have been Susanne`s parish. Their four children were baptised at St Lawrence between 1800 and 1808
- ↑ Died in St Helier. Ropemaker
- ↑ Marie Remon`s will, dated 6 July 1864 (proved 1865) left all her chattels and personalty, after a small gift to the poor of St John, to her brother Jean Remon, and his wife, Marguerite Catelinet
- ↑ Farmer in the Vingtaine du Douet, St John, then Quarryman (1871). There was no issue of this marriage listed in censuses nor found in Church of England registers
- ↑ His godparents supply the identity of an aunt whose baptism was forgotten or missed from the register. The godparents were Thomas Remon and Elizabeth, his sister. Thomas` identity is established in 1730, below
- ↑ Godparents were Abraham Remon and his mother, identified as Perrotine Pinel, from the 1730 baptism of Elizabeth Remon, below
- ↑ The godparents of Elizabeth Remon daughter of Abraham were Thomas Remon and Perrotine Pinel, mother of Abraham and Thomas”
- ↑ Godparents: Jean Remon and Catherine Querée, his wife
- ↑ Godparents: Thomas Remon and Perrotine Pinel, his mother
- ↑ RP 49/146 (1760): Marie Perrée, daughter and principal heiress of the late Amice Perrée, son and principal heir of Abraham Perree, and wife of Abraham Remon, sells to Jean Remon a house, Le Jardin de Renouf, Clos d`Amos, Jardin d`Amos, that Perrée had bought from Esther Le Couteur, widow of Josue Lempriere, on the Fiefs d`Avranches and La Hougue Boëte. This Abraham Remon son of Abraham sold to his uncle, Thomas Remon son of John, an annual income of 3 cabots of wheat: RP 54/47 (1772)
- ↑ Abraham Remon, on the death of his grandfather in 1781, inherited his house and land. This he sold to Charles Querée, in the same year. It was described as house, field called Le Clos du Pont de Haut, two fields called Le Clos de Remon, all on the Fief du Castelet, St John, and Le Clos de Pierre Esnouf on the Fief de St Jean La Hougue Boëte. The field names survive, with one exception, suggesting that the house was either that now called Le Douet or Les Chasses, immediately to the west of Greenfield (below). In exchange, Querée sold him his house and field called Les Longs Champs, in the St Mary part of the fief last mentioned. Rentes completed the exchange. An exchange such as this, involving what would appear to be a smaller landholding, can be a means of discharging debt. Abraham moved into the house he had acquired, settling in St Mary: L/C/284/A2/7 at Jersey Archive
- ↑ Godparents: Jean Remon and Catherine Tourgis, his wife
- ↑ Godparents: Jean Remon and Elizabeth, his daughter
- ↑ The godparents of Elizabeth Remon daughter of Abraham were Thomas Remon, brother of Abraham and Elizabeth Arthur, his wife
- ↑ Buried as Jacques, son of Jean Remon and Perrotine
- ↑ Of Greenfields, Rue des Buttes, St John
- ↑ Their initials are engraved at Greenfield on the west gable of the farmhouse, now enclosed in the loft above the 1960s west extension. The stone is partly obscured by a rafter: TRM EAT (date lost)
- ↑ Godparents: Abraham Remon and his wife
- ↑ Of La Porte, Ville à L`Evêcque, Trinity
- ↑ Godparents: Jean Remon and his wife
- ↑ Of Old Farm, Route du Mont Mado
- ↑ Catherine`s christening was omitted from the register. However, Thomas Remon`s partage, dated 6 February 1790, RP 73/78, names her as the deceased`s fourth daughter and names her husband, as it did those of her siblings who were, at that date, married
- ↑ The couple left their initials and date engraved on Bon Air: PGLC CRM 1788
