This tree was added to the site in 2016. It was reviewed in 2018, 2019 and 2020, and again in 2021, when more details were added

The accuracy of the central section of the tree was challenged in 2021. Elie Cabot at generation 5 is known to have had further children with Francoise Nicolle in Jersey at the time when Canadian researchers believe he was married to Jane Murray. We will carry out further research as soon as time permits to try to establish whether this was the same Elie, married bigamously, or whether there were two separate Elie Cabots, as seems more likely

In common with the majority of our trees, this descendancy has been subject to regular review by site editors and checked against Jersey church records. Trees including French ancestry have also been checked as far as possible against French primary records. It is not always possible to carry out such checks on sections of trees with United Kingdom and/or colonial content
