  1. ↑ Nicolas was probably the grandson of Nicolas Carrel (1475- by 1564) of St Ouen, who was still living in 1547. This Nicolas senior married Jeanette de St Pierre, daughter of Rauff. Cases in December 1564 and in 1566, before the Cour d`Heritage, name three of the issue of the then deceased Nicolas senior, and a grand-daughter. His eldest son was Jean Carrel of St Ouen, who features in the Extente of 1528 and was the principal defendant in each of the actions. The second son, and co-defendant, was Thomas Carrel, whilst the younger son, deceased by 1550, was Philippe Carrel. Philippe left an eldest daughter and principal heiress, Peronelle Carrel, widow of John Le Montais, and mother of Edouard Le Montais, who brought the actions. The 1566 case suggests that Peronelle had a sister, the wife of Philippe du Heaume. Mabel Carrel, wife of Guillaume Freusles, may have been a further party. Nicolas Carrel is mentioned in an earlier action before the CH, in 1547. The parties included Sire Philippe Carrel, priest, and an unnamed probable sister. A case of inheritance, the relationships of the parties, one to another, were not given
