Tree, added in 2014, based on a submitted tree, other similar trees at Ancestry, adjusted, augmented and corrected by baptism registers

The tree was reviewed in 2021, mainly against Ancestry trees, in the absence of any accessible primary records for the early generations. Those trees differ in the early relationships. The tree which appears to be best researched shows the descendancy we have now adopted.

We previously showed Philippe, who married Marie Pinel, as the son of Jean and Collette Touet, grandson of Nicolas and Collette. We are satisfied that the dates for these individuals just do not fit, and have adopted the online descendancy now shown. But we must caution that this cannot be proved from records currently available to us.

A further review in 2023 resulted in the addition of a descendant line from Philippe and Elizabeth Coutanche at generation 6. We were not able to resolve the question of Jacques' (gen 2) parentage, which is the subject of the Discussion tab

We have amended some dates, which were clearly wrong, but would caution, as usual, that all dates in the 16th and 17th centuries must be viewed as approximate

In common with the majority of our trees, this descendancy has been subject to regular review by site editors and checked against Jersey church records. Trees including French ancestry have also been checked as far as possible against French primary records. It is not always possible to carry out such checks on sections of trees with United Kingdom and/or colonial content
