  1. ↑ The marriages section of St Martin`s register for 1606 has suffered mouse-damage. Susanne Jacquet`s spouse now features as "Ma... Gruche"
  2. ↑ Described on the baptism of his daughter Susanne, in 1633, as “Philippe son of Matthieu”
  3. ↑ Robert Jacque, written as Racque, and Susanne, his wife, were the child`s godparents
  4. ↑ ”Daughter of Philippe and Jeanne, aged 5 months”
  5. ↑ The names of Matthieu`s two godparents reveal the parish of origin of this branch of Gruchys, apart from identifying two of their relatives still living there. They were Matthieu Gruchy and Marie, his sister, of Trinity, who are shown on Descendants of Rauff Gruchy in generation 6
  6. ↑ The baptism of a child of Matthieu`s first wife at so late a date, may indicate ill-health and a previous home christening that went unrecorded. Her baptismal record was “Marie, daughter of Matthieu and Jeanne Syvret.” Her godfather was Matthieu Syvret junr.

  8. ↑ Described clearly, despite the date, as the daughter of Matthieu Gruchy and [his soon-to-be second wife] Mabel Noel, Susanne`s grandparent Philippe Gruchy and Marie Richardson, were her godparents
