Historian Ian Ronayne has produced this listing of Jersey men and women, residents and those with strong connections to the island who lost their lives in conflict in the Second World War. It enlarges on the official Roll of Honour produced by a States Committee in 1982, including a significant number of new names.

This includes some names which are included in the official 1982 Roll of Honour, with no supporting information

  1. ↑ Died in England and buried at Stoke New Cemetery, Guildford, Surrey
  2. ↑ Died from injuries received the previous day
  3. ↑ Adolphus George Valpy (1880-1941) was killed at Croydon during the Blitz, on 12 January 1941. He was born in Lambeth, the son of another Adolphus George, who moved to London shortly before his marriage to Fanny Martha Dommett in Lambeth in 1879. Adolphus George snr, was also apparently a victim of the Blitz. He was killed at Battersea on 21 March 1921. Stanley Valpy, also shown on this page, the son of Adolphus George jnr and Mabel Mary Gates, died at the age of 26 in January 1945. He was a signalman in the Royal Corps of Signals

  5. ↑ Son of Colour Sergeant Kenelm Ritchley Vann and Beatrice Annie, nee Martin he was born in St Helier in 1909 and married Eleanor Weston in Southampton in 1935
  6. ↑ The tanker British Fame was en route from Avonmouth to Abadon when she was torpedoed and sunk by the Italian submarine Allesandro Malaspina
  7. ↑ The son of Louis (1895-1949) and Louisa Adelina, nee Bretel (1896-1984), of St Helier, he was born in 1918. He died during the evacuation of Greece and is comemmorated on the Athens Memorial in the Phaleron War Cemetery
  8. ↑ Son of John Elias and Clara Edith, nee Amy. Although Army records give his age at the time of death as 27, he was actually 33, born in Gorey, St Martin in 1911. He was killed in Normandy five weeks after D-Day and is buried in St Manvieu War Cemetery, Cheux
  9. ↑ Born in St Ouen in 1914, the son of John and Anna Louise, nee Laycock (1881-1954)
  10. ↑ Light cruiser sunk by German U-boat U-410
  11. ↑ It is doubtful whether Philip Francis Vigot belongs in this list. The only islander of this name and of the right age was the member of the crew of the RMS Titanic', who survived when it sank in 1912 and went on to serve in the Great War. He died in Southampton in 1941
  12. ↑ We have so far been unable to find Albert Vincent's service record or details of his Jersey family
  13. ↑ Ronald Vincent was was lost while flying his Beaufighter with 27 Squadron in Singapore in 1943. He was the son of H E and Elsie Vincent, of Heswall, Cheshire
  14. ↑ Born in Guernsey in 1912, the son of Henry James Vining and Kathleen Smith. He died in Tunisia
  15. ↑ Michel Voss was the son of Clive Hartold and Georgette Voss, of Westminster, London.He died at the age of 19 in Canada while serving with the RAF Volunteer Reserve
