Descendants of Jean Starck

This tree was added to the site in 2013, when it was not possible to go back beyond generation 1 with any certainty, partly because we had no record of the Starck-Le Moigne marriage. However, we found this record in 2014 and linked this tree to a new one added then, covering a different descent
The family name was variously spelt Starcq and Starck in early generations

In common with the majority of our trees, this descendancy has been subject to regular review by site editors and checked against Jersey church records. Trees including French ancestry have also been checked as far as possible against French primary records. It is not always possible to carry out such checks on sections of trees with United Kingdom and/or colonial content
If you want to search for records for any name in this family tree, or for any other family name, just click below on the first letter of the family name you are interested in. This will open a new tab in your browser giving you a list of family names beginning with that letter, for which there are baptism records in our database of half a million church and public registry records.
You can also select marriages or burials. Select the name you want and when the list of records is displayed you can easily refine the search, choosing a single parish, given name(s) and/or start and end dates.
The records are displayed 30 to a page, but by selecting the Wiki Table option at the top left of the page you can open a full, scrollable list. This list will either be displayed in a new tab or a pop-up window. You may have to edit the settings of your browser to allow pop-up windows for www.jerripediabmd.net. For the small number of family names for which a search generates more than 1,500 records you will have to refine your search (perhaps using start or end dates) to reduce the number of records found.

- ↑ See below as to justification for the change in this Elie's issue. Those previously shown as such are now in Descendants of Luquas Starcq
- ↑ Currently a missing, possibly Methodist, baptism. Her placement on this tree and parentage are shown by court records: Registre Public (Jersey), Volume 190/40: "Rachel Starck, eldest daughter and principal heiress of the late Elie Starck junior and of Rachel Alexandre, his wife...". In Jersey Law, at that time, for Rachel Stark to be "eldest daughter and principal heiress," meant that she had either no brother or a brother who had predeceased her, leaving no surviving issue. Her late father was "Elie Starck junior". Her sister Anne's godparents showed that Elie Starck senior was still alive in 1829. In this generation, her father, Elie Starck, could not have been born in 1786 or the Elie born in 1789, as these were, respectively, son of Jean and of Philippe. This leaves Elie fils Elie, born in 1792, as being her father. The latter's brother, Philippe, chose Elie Starck and Rachel Alexandre, his wife, as godparents for his daughter, Marie Starck, in 1813, supporting by godparent evidence the court record
- ↑ Of The Birches, St Saviour
- ↑ Godparents: Elie Starck and Anne, his daughter
- ↑ Probably the winner of a prize at a Military review in 1808
- ↑ Living in 1851 as a widow with her daughter Caroline. Philippe Starck, who married Anne Cabot, was previously shown as Philippe (1783- ) at gen 3, son of Philippe and Marie Fauvel. There were, however, two Philippes in this generation. On clear godparent evidence, the placement has been adjusted to that now shown
- ↑ (Absent) sailor`s wife, in the name Anne Starck, 1851 census, living with her sister Eliza Renouf and niece, Eliza S[ophia] Renouf, the latter aged six. Godparents: Elie Starck and Marie Beaugie, his wife; liv 1851, with her brother, Philippe

- ↑ Elizabeth Rachel Messervy was shown as the mother of the first three children shown below in their baptism records. There is no record of an Edouard Starck marrying Elizabeth Rachel, nor of any other Edouard being of an age to have these children. It is assumed that Jeanne Rachel and Elizabeth Rachel are the same person

- ↑ Master mariner, certified for both sail and steam. In retirement from his seagoing career, he was the lighthouse keeper at Corbiere. He is said by his family to have died from a heart attack on the causeway at Corbiere
- ↑ The history of John and Clara Ann and their children is somewhat mysterious. Only Clara Ann, Blanche and Marjory were baptised in Jersey. Alfred and Diana are believed to have been born in Bermondsey. The 1901 census shows Clara Ann living in Bermondsey with John, Clara, Blanche, Alfred and Diana. By 1911 she is back in Jersey, living at Corbiere Lodge, with her lighthouse keeper husband and children Marjory and Alfred
- ↑ Grower
- ↑ No baptism record found, but shown living in Bermondsey, London in 1901 with mother Clara Ann. Does not appear in Jersey census records. Occupation registration shows him born in St Martin but may have been born in St Helier. No record of him marrying
